SituAItional Awareness™ for the real world
Echidna Cams Pty Ltd is an Australian company that designs and builds a modular, AI-powered camera platform for rugged, real-world environments. From wildlife identification to law enforcement, and uses that haven't been imagined yet, our technology brings long overdue clarity, reliability, and innovation to surveillance.
Our story
Camera surveillance hadn't fundamentally changed in decades. The hardware got smaller, the resolution got higher, and the storage got cheaper — but the core assumption stayed the same: cameras are built for people to watch.
That assumption is the problem.
When you build a camera for human viewing, you make compromises — in resolution, compression, and how data is captured and stored. Those compromises don't matter much when a person is reviewing footage. They matter enormously when AI is trying to analyse it. The information AI depends on to do its job gets sacrificed before it's ever recorded.
Echidna Cams was founded to fix that. We started with a small team of engineers, field researchers, and surveillance specialists who understood both sides of the problem — the technology and the real-world operational requirements it needed to serve. We built from the ground up: hardware optimised for machine analysis, software that adapts to the mission, and an ecosystem designed to perform where no one can be watching.
We're Australian-built, field-tested, and already trusted by councils and government agencies across the country. This is just the beginning.
Who we are
Echidna Cams exists to close the gap between what surveillance technology promises and what it actually delivers in the field.
We build end-to-end camera ecosystems — hardware and software designed together, from the ground up, for AI analysis. Our systems deploy in remote locations, operate without continuous connectivity, adapt to changing missions without hardware replacement, and deliver the clarity and intelligence that modern government and conservation operations actually need.
We're not building for the showroom. We're building for the field.
