What is "Hybrid Ownership"

A different kind of ownership, designed around
how field surveillance operations actually work.

All field surveillance setups fall into one of two camps.

1. You buy everything outright — and inherit the maintenance burden, the firmware headaches, the hardware refresh cycle, and the disposal problem when it's end-of-life.

2. You lease everything — and own nothing, control nothing, and find yourself locked into whatever the lessor decides to offer, on their terms and their pricing.

The Echidna platform is not just another camera. These rigid purchase or lease models do not fit our design philosophy of being flexible, adaptable, and improving over time.

So we came up with something different.

You purchase the peripherals and accessories to the Echidna platform — the Echidna Puggles, rechargable batteries and other accessories. You choose the capability that actually matches your operation, not what a manufacturer guessed what you'd probably need.

The Echidna Unit and Echidna Burrow stay with us. We maintain them, update them, and replace them for the life of your SituAItional Awareness service. The system gets smarter over time. The hardware headaches stay off your desk, and we will handle all the end of life management.

And if it is not for you...

Your SituAItional Awareness service runs on a 12-month minimum term. After that, it's two weeks notice before your next billing period. We collect the unit at our cost. The hardware you purchased stays with you. That's it.

FAQs

Is this like a lease?

No. You own a meaningful part of the system outright. The subscription covers the intelligence layer — the part that needs continuous investment to stay current.

What are we actually paying for each month?

Access to the SituAItional Awarenessplatform, including secure cloud storage, , firmware updates, AI analytics, maintenance, and support. A fully managed intelligence system: not a camera rental.

What if our needs change?

That's exactly what our system is designed for. You can use different configurations for different environments and use cases, so you're never paying for capabilities you don't need.

Is the access to the SituAItional Awareness™ platform fixed for the term?

Yes. Your subscription rate is locked for the duration of your 12-month agreement. No mid-term price surprises.

What's the minimum commitment?

12 months, with renewal at your discretion. No automatic lock-in beyond the initial term.

Do we need an IT team to manage this?

No. The system is designed to be managed by operations teams, not IT departments. The Echidna Burrow handles connectivity and data management in the field. The platform is browser-based and requires no on-premise infrastructure or specific software to be installed.

Who is responsible if the unit is damaged or stolen in the field?

Full terms covering damage, theft, liability, and replacement are set out in your Service and Licensing Agreement, which we'll walk you through before deployment

For customers who want additional peace of mind, Echidna Care covers priority support, and accelerated hardware replacement for a small monthly fee.

What happens to our data if we cancel?

Your data remains yours. We don't retain, sell, or use your operational data beyond the life of your subscription

Full details, including data handling and retention periods, and your rights on exit, are set out in your Service and Licensing Agreement
